Through his work Dr. Gawande opens a new conversation about what dying has to do with living, and his role as a medical doctor in ensuring not only health and survival, but enabling his patients' well-being. In this interview, Dr. Gawande explores what it means to be human - a physical and spiritual being - noting, "being mortal is about the struggle to cope with the constraints of our biology, with the limits set by genes and cells and flesh and bone."
