PowerMyLearning is an educational non-profit organization focusing on improving results for low-income students by using technology to encourage them, their families, and their teachers to work together to ensure student success. This collaboration fosters an atmosphere of learning, whereby children who may not otherwise be able to reach their full potential can thrive. Elisabeth Stock is the co-founder of PowerMyLearning, and became interested in the educational inequality while volunteering in west Africa for the Peace Corps. PowerMyLearning began in 1999 and is now used in over 30,000 schools across the United States. One of the reasons the organization is so successful is because it empowers students to take charge of their own education, while being supported by their families and schools. Teachers are also empowered by having the ability to adapt the technology to each group of students, or to individuals. When students have ownership over their ability to learn, teachers have the resources they need, and families are invited to join the process, everybody wins.
